Arkansas' No. 1 2029 Prospect MJ Witherspoon Set to Join Oak Hill Academy
Oak Hill Academy is adding another nationally recognized young prospect to its program, this time pulling the top-ranked player in Arkansas from the Class of 2029.
MJ Witherspoon, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Little Rock, is set to join the Warriors after emerging as the No. 1 player in Arkansas in the 2029 class. Rivals currently lists Witherspoon as the No. 82 overall prospect in its Industry Ranking and the No. 18 shooting guard nationally.
Witherspoon has built his early reputation around his perimeter skill, length and versatility. He can knock down shots from outside, create offense off the dribble and play multiple roles on the wing, giving him a strong foundation as his game continues to develop.
His profile has also grown through grassroots basketball with Legynds Basketball Club on the Nike EYBL circuit. That competition has given him experience against talented prospects from across the country while his recruitment continues to gain momentum.
The timing of his potential arrival at Oak Hill is notable.
The Warriors recently named Ryan Devlin head coach of the Gold Team, putting a veteran coach with experience at the high school, AAU and Division I levels in charge of the program. Devlin brings more than 20 years of coaching experience, including college stops at San Diego, George Washington, Siena and Penn State.
His arrival signals a new direction for Oak Hill, and Witherspoon would give the program a young guard with the talent and upside to become an important piece of that transition.
Witherspoon is still early in his high school career, but he has already earned national recognition, climbed to the top of Arkansas' 2029 rankings and gained valuable experience on the EYBL circuit.
For Oak Hill, adding one of the South's top young prospects would be another significant piece as the program begins its next era under Devlin.
