ESPN Releases Class of 2028 Top 60 Rankings, Georgia Produces Five Nationally Ranked Freshmen
The next wave of elite basketball talent has officially arrived.
ESPN has released its inaugural Class of 2028 Top 60 rankings, recognizing the nation's best incoming high school freshmen and providing an early look at the players expected to shape the future of college basketball recruiting. The rankings highlight athletes who have already separated themselves through national showcases, grassroots competition, USA Basketball events, and early high school performances.
Leading the rankings is Georgia standout A.J. Williams, who earned the No. 1 overall ranking after establishing himself as one of the country's premier young prospects. He is followed by Yann Kamagate, Colton Hiller, Bamba Touray, and Erick Dampier Jr., completing ESPN's top five in the Class of 2028.
Georgia Leads the Way
Georgia once again proved why it continues to be one of the nation's premier basketball talent pipelines, placing five players in ESPN's Top 60.
The Peach State is represented by No. 1 A.J. Williams (Eagle's Landing Christian Academy, Hampton), No. 8 Myles Hayes (Woodward Academy, Atlanta), No. 15 Bentley Lusakueno (Woodward Academy, Atlanta), No. 54 Jaden McCullough (Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, Atlanta), and No. 56 Peter Julius (Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, Marietta).
The group is highlighted by A.J. Williams, who enters high school as the nation's top-ranked player. Woodward Academy also boasts two nationally ranked freshmen in Myles Hayes and Bentley Lusakueno, while Holy Innocents' Episcopal School and Mt. Bethel Christian Academy each place a player among ESPN's top prospects.
Metro Atlanta Continues to Dominate
Four of Georgia's five nationally ranked freshmen come from Metro Atlanta, reinforcing the area's reputation as one of the country's premier basketball recruiting hubs.
As these young prospects continue to develop over the next four years, college coaches from across the nation will undoubtedly make frequent stops throughout Georgia.
