Tyson Sharper Brings Leadership, Playmaking, and Winning Mentality to Riverwood

Marc WilkinsJuly 1, 2026

In today's game, finding a point guard who can consistently make the right read is just as valuable as finding one who can fill up the scoring column. Riverwood High School's Tyson Sharper continues to prove he can do both.

The 6-foot-2 floor general has emerged as one of the more dependable lead guards in Georgia, blending high-level court vision with a pass-first mentality that keeps his teammates involved while still being capable of taking over offensively when needed.

Playing with Riverwood High School during the June live period, Sharper averaged 22 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game, showcasing his ability to control every aspect of the game. Whether pushing the tempo in transition, attacking the paint, or creating open looks for teammates, Sharper consistently made winning basketball plays.

His leadership extends well beyond the stat sheet. A team captain, Sharper has earned the trust of coaches through his communication, defensive intensity, and willingness to embrace whatever the game requires. On the defensive end, his anticipation, lateral quickness, and relentless effort allow him to pressure opposing guards and create extra possessions.

Sharper's experience competing at a high level began early. As a freshman at Holy Innocents', he earned varsity minutes alongside future NBA Draft selection Caleb Wilson, an opportunity that accelerated his development and exposed him to elite competition from the start of his high school career.

Away from basketball, Sharper carries a 3.3 GPA and plans to pursue a career in aviation, with aspirations of becoming a commercial pilot. His discipline in the classroom mirrors his approach on the court, where preparation, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement define his game.

A student of basketball, Sharper regularly studies elite guards like Dylan Harper and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, drawing inspiration from their pace, composure, and decision-making.

As college programs continue searching for guards who value winning as much as individual production, Tyson Sharper presents an intriguing option. His combination of leadership, basketball IQ, defensive commitment, and proven playmaking ability makes him a prospect capable of impacting a program from the moment he arrives.
