For most players, Peach Jam is where reputations are made. For AJ Williams, it became another opportunity to prove that he belongs among the nation’s elite, regardless of age.

Team CP3’s run came to an end with an 82-79 Elite Eight loss to the Florida Rebels, but Williams once again delivered on one of grassroots basketball’s biggest stages. The nation’s No. 1 player in the Class of 2028 finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks, showcasing the complete skill set that has made him one of the most coveted young prospects in the country.

After beginning the Nike EYBL season with the Georgia Stars, Williams later joined Chris Paul’s Team CP3, making the decision to compete on the 17U circuit against older competition during the latter part of the summer. Rather than simply gaining experience, he consistently produced against many of the nation’s top juniors and seniors, proving he could thrive while playing up.

Throughout Peach Jam, Williams demonstrated why his game translates regardless of the opponent. His ability to score from all three levels, rebound, facilitate, defend multiple positions, and protect the rim allowed him to impact winning in nearly every phase of the game. Against older, stronger, and more experienced competition, the sophomore never looked out of place.

His summer performance also continued to attract some of college basketball’s biggest names. Williams has already earned scholarship offers from blue blood programs including Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke, a remarkable accomplishment for a player who still has multiple years of high school basketball remaining.

Now, the conversation shifts from what Williams accomplished this summer to what comes next.

Following a strong EYBL season and an impressive Peach Jam run with Team CP3, discussions surrounding a potential reclassification to the Class of 2027 have already begun throughout the basketball community. Nothing has been made official, but after watching Williams consistently excel while playing up against older competition, it’s easy to understand why that possibility has become a topic of conversation.

Whether he ultimately remains in the Class of 2028 or decides to accelerate his path, one thing has become increasingly clear. AJ Williams has already shown he can produce against some of the nation's best high school players, regardless of graduation year.

He has also positioned himself as one of the faces of the next generation of Metro Atlanta basketball. With his combination of talent, production, maturity, and continued success against elite older competition, Williams has emerged as one of the region's brightest young prospects and one of the most exciting young players in the country.

With blue blood offers from Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke already in hand, a standout summer playing up with Chris Paul's Team CP3, and another impressive showing at Peach Jam, Williams has positioned himself for what could be an even bigger chapter in his basketball journey. The only question now is what's next for AJ Williams?
